Irving, TX (February 20, 2009) – In the middle of a promotion naming her manager of the Mansfield office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage – Dallas/Fort Worth (CBDFW), Barbara Landers flew out the door to go to her mother-in-law’s hospital bedside in Arlington.
“And she handled it all just like the professional she is,” says Joanne Justice, a long-time colleague and friend of Ms. Landers. “Family always comes first. Business is important, but it comes second.”
Additional evidence is the fact that Barbara and her husband J.T. Landers have two sons — Jay, Jason and a daughter, Crystal Rogers of Arlington, mother of the only grandchild — Tiyana Jewel Rogers.
A native of Pampa near Amarillo, Ms. Landers attended Clarendon Junior College and worked as a magazine cover model. She earned a real estate license through Coldwell Banker’s Arlington office in 1998 and began a partnership with Ms. Justice that has grown increasingly dynamic.
“She was my mentor and teacher. When she needed help through the years, I tried hard to be there for her,” Ms. Landers says. “When the company offered me a position as assistant manager for Mansfield and Arlington offices, I saw it as an excellent opportunity to continue to help Joanne,” Ms. Landers recalls.
“Finally company leaders said, ‘Okay, you’ve learned enough. Now you get your own office,’” Ms. Justice says, laughing at the memory.
Ms. Landers has listed and sold homes in Arlington, Mansfield, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Joshua, Burleson, Kennedale and other southern sector cities. As Mansfield manager, she will corral and mentor 50 associates and a market area roughly as big as Rhode Island.
Mansfield is known locally as the town that grew so fast it had to build two high schools at one time. The city’s economic development team and a wide variety of new-home builders have taken the once-sleepy agricultural hamlet and turned it into a thriving metropolitan destination for approximately 45,000 residents.
Ms. Landers, a Certified Negotiating Specialist and Certified Marketing and Relocation Specialist, is well equipped to be head wrangler for a humming residential operation in one of the fastest growing cities in the Southwest.
She believes her particular strengths are an ability to relate to the agents, mentor and coach them, and provide high-level training to those who need it.
What is her greatest personal achievement? “Helping people who didn’t think they could afford a home actually realize their dream and purchase a home. I believe every single customer should be treated with the same quality of care and customer service,” she adds. “I teach my associates to treat the $50,000 home buyer exactly as they do the $500,000 buyer of the $5 million buyer.”
Evidence of her strong sense of leadership and professionalism is evident. She serves on the board of directors of the Arlington Board of Realtors’ and is chairman and co-chairman of numerous board committees - including special events, community service, budget and finance. In 2008 the Arlington Board of Realtors named her Realtor of the Year.
